Emergency Light Testing
Emergency lighting is for an emergency situation when the main power supply is cut and any normal illumination fails. Emergency lighting is normally required to operate fully automatically and give illumination of a sufficiently high level to enable all occupants to evacuate the premises safely.
The legal requirement is that non-domestic buildings must be safe at all times, even if mains power failure occurs. Therefore, nearly all such buildings must have emergency lighting fitted.
Failure to have properly installed emergency lighting will also be highlighted on a fire risk assessment.
To ensure all lighting is checked during one calendar year we test clients emergency lighting during the six monthly fire alarm service visit.
